Croquet is a sport that involves hitting plastic or wooden balls with a wooden mallet through a series of hoops set out on a grass playing lawn. It can be played as a team or individually.


  • It is played outdoors so plenty of fresh air in a green space.
  • It’s a fun way to get gentle exercise and socialise.
  • Brain exercise – it is compared to snooker on grass with the puzzle-solving aspects of chess.
  • It can be played at any age.


Boules is a collective name for a wide range of games similar to bowls in which the objective is to throw or roll heavy metal balls as close as possible to the target ball, the Jack. It is played on a large rectangular court of gravel enclosed in wooden boards. It can be played as a team game or individually. This particular game is played like you may have seen in a French town or village.


  • It is a low impact sport giving a gentle workout.
  • It is a very sociable game.
  • Can be played at any age.
  • Easy to learn but also provides good brain exercise.
  • Gets you outdoors and helps to relieve stress and anxiety.
