Practising yoga while seated develops a slow and mindful movement programme focused on joint mobility and flexibility. This class is available to all irrespective of age, ability, or experience. Chair yoga explores the body’s full range of movement without weight impact which can be beneficial when recovering from illness or injury. During class breath-work exercises are incorporated which increases the capacity of the lungs, boosts circulation reducing blood pressure, and reduces anxiety by moving us out of the ‘fight or flight’ part of the nervous system.
