Hello All,
Earlier in the week the writer of this piece was thinking of a subject title for this post. The thought was one of the many daydreams that go through the mind. Mostly they are about what I/we can do when we get out again or if we get to go a bit further… One step at a time is the decree and we really hope that we will be able to keep the momentum up and that some more normal life will return to us all. In the meantime, here are some useful / interesting links – again this week in no particular order, here we go.
Rose from Fingal – Please view… you will certainly recognise our own Rose! https://youtu.be/s67z1h8O60Q Rose was asked to do a piece for Active Age Ireland, and it is likely to be in one of the Senior Times attached.

“Cocooning – A collection of activities for those self-isolating” has been developed by the Covid-19 Fingal Community Response Project which is a collaboration between Fingal County Council, Age Friendly Fingal, Castleknock Community Centre Laurel Lodge, Blakestown Community Centre, Corduff Resource Centre and Huntstown Community Centre. There is something in the booklet for everyone and we hope that you enjoy the activities, short stories, poetry, interesting facts and more. We have included a short story competition, the closing date is June 15th 2020. If someone is shopping for you, ask them to pick one up from the SuperValu checkout, or chemists. If you cannot get one that way, a soft copy is attached and you can print off any pages you may want to do.

Abbey Theatre performances- update – ‘Dear Ireland’? – These were good, and some were really excellent – some easier than others to watch but nice to be able to do a few and then take a break and move on later. We were able to have our own intervals and have no queue at the bar! All 50 monologues available online for six months. Highly recommended. https://www.abbeytheatre.ie/whats-on/dear-ireland/
The Senior Times / Age Friendly Ireland – 3 copies attached.
If you come across anything that you think would be of interest to members, please send it on to activeageforall@gmail.com.
So back to the subject matter. I was remembering a woman in the village where I grew up. She was a sort of ‘Margo’ from The Good Life. She always was noticed when doing her shopping – dressed to impress. The story is told that when she was ill on one occasion, she rang the chemist to have her prescription delivered together with soaps, creams, perfumes and toilet paper. On recovery she called in to pay her bill (credit worthy) and when the chemist asked her if all had been OK, she responded that most was perfect, but the toilet paper had been the wrong colour. His response: ‘I find Mrs X that, on the whole, does it really matter?’ Her response – she took her business elsewhere!
Stay home and stay safe.
